It’s too damn cold to balloon in Indy today. Not that anybody really balloons during the winter months here in the state of Indiana.
I heard about the Phoenix balloon accident yesterday. A friend reached out to make sure it wasn’t me or one of my family members. My heart really goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. It’s funny how Nightly News mentioned it, but it gave no details. It was like a 20-30 blip.
Prayers, thoughts, and good vibes go out to the surviving family members. I don’t know any more details than what were relayed through news outlets. Terrible that it happened. I deal heavily with grief. If anyone reading this deals with grief themselves, I highly recommend griefshare.org. It was really helpful to me as I navigated being widowed back at the end of February 2022.
Please any all balloonists and balloon enthusiasts, remember this simple phase: safety first. Safety first, always.
Does this incident make me scared to go up in a hot air balloon again? Nope, not in the least bit. I am still looking forward to a very adventurous 2024 in ballooning. If anything, I will do it to honor my late wife Anne Marie Smoot Cox. We love ballooning more than words can tell! 🌹❤️
